Galatasaray Hostel

. This is a very small hotel with few rooms. The entrance is hard to find as no sign is visible when coming up the steep road until you are in front of the hotel. Reception area is so small, it is close to non-existent. This hotel has no lift, so you must be fit for walking stairs – first to your room and then to the top floor where breakfast is served. We had a room to the inner court yard with a fire stair just outside the window, which could not be locked – something we did not appreciate. The rooms to the inner court yard have hardly any daylight and for privacy one best keeps the curtains closed at all times. This makes the room a bit depressing. When booking, request a room facing the road, so you get day light into the room. Breakfast is good and the view from the breakfast room over to the Galata Tower is great. Design of the room is modern with flat screen tv. Location of the hotel is not exactly close to public transport and the roads around the hotel seem to be either going up or down. Hence this hotel is only suitable if you are a good walker.
