We traveled as a group of 6 people (3 couples) and booked 3 rooms through Booking, attracted by its location and the good reviews it had. We knew it was a simple hotel, without luxuries, ideal for what we wanted: to explore Istanbul and just go to sleep. However, the reality is far from the reviews it has. We arrived at night and had a very hard time finding it. The entrance is part of an independent restaurant, the reception is tiny, and the exterior sign had no light, so we passed it several times. Upon going up to the rooms, we already saw that things did not look good: poorly maintained wooden windows that did not close well and opened to a dirty fire escape, curtains that were falling down on their own... The worst came with the air conditioning. One of the couples had no air conditioning working at all during their stay (the technician never showed up). But the serious issue was with the second couple: upon returning from dinner the first night, they found the room completely flooded from the water that the air conditioning had released. It was uninhabitable. The only "solution" from the hotel was to tell them to sleep there that night and that "a technician would come tomorrow." Faced with the impossibility of staying in a flooded room, they had to find their way in the early morning and leave for another hotel. The next day we went to complain. They kept us distracted until mid-morning waiting for a boss who "was arriving in half an hour." When he finally appeared, he flatly refused to refund the money for the stay, claiming that they "had not accepted his solution" (to sleep in the water). Very nice words, but no real solution. After much struggle, he only offered to pay for the first night at the new hotel (which was better and cheaper than the Hatay), but he disregarded the rest of the stay that my friends had already had to pay for. It was a wall. As "compensation," he offered the transfer to the airport, which we had already told him we had booked. Regarding the towel issue, one day they would only provide small towels, the next day they would be missing... and the staff's response was, "Tomorrow around 10 they will come and replenish them." Breakfast is not served at the hotel or in the restaurant downstairs, but at another hotel located about 50 meters away. It is an area full of small hotels and restaurants. It was quite fair (adapted to what is usually common in the area, I think), but correct, and the staff there was attentive. In Turkey, there are wonderful and very kind people, but with the management of this hotel, one must be very careful because at the slightest issue, they disregard real problems. To make matters worse, Booking (with whom we contracted) has washed their hands of it and we are still waiting for a response. Do not be fooled by the good ratings, I do not recommend it at all.

The dirtiest hostel is old hatay hotel. The worst wet sheet. The sheets are not changed, the furniture is old, the rooms stink. KETTLE broken convenience no. The rooms are small. The service staff is incompetent and rude.

Very good rates. Location is perfect, rooms are clean, the hosts are the best, wow if I compare my other family members who were also in the area the same time as me but at different hotels then I had the best hotel. I had no problems and would go back to the Hatay Hotel any day.
