Hilton Garden Inn Golden Horn

We booked this hotel through the Agoda site from 08/14/26 to 08/17/26, two double rooms for 4 people with breakfast. Arriving at the hotel, the receptionist informed us that the reservation was indeed for two double rooms but only for two people and two breakfasts. He asked us for a supplement of nearly 300 euros for the additional people and breakfasts. Agoda is not responding. We are forced to take an additional double room with breakfast for two people at the price of 270 euros. Agoda got back to us to tell us that they could not do anything. As for the hotel, without a car, it is far from everything and is not suitable for visiting old Istanbul. The hotel is on high ground, the terrain is very steep, I advise against it if you have reduced mobility or are with young children. We had rooms with a view; it is very noisy because they overlook a main road. Impossible to keep the window open to sleep. The gym is well-equipped and large. The hammam is not well maintained; you can see moss or algae forming in certain places. The pool is about ten meters long by about 3.5m wide. No point in going there to swim; children can, however, use their inflatable mattress. A swim cap is mandatory. There are few lounge chairs; it is better to arrive early. The housekeepers are very kind and very attentive. For breakfast, it is difficult or even impossible to find a bowl for cereal, the coffee is very average, the cook does not always respect the line and gives his attention to people speaking Turkish. Meals at the restaurant are expensive; it is better to eat elsewhere. A supermarket is nearby by taking the stairs. The prices are reasonable. Miniatürk and Miniatürk are two attractions accessible on foot for about 1500 TRY. If I had to do it again, I would rather go to a hotel by the sea to wait for my plane.

This hotel is nowhere near a five-star standard. The room was extremely worn and poorly maintained. The furniture was old, the headboard was badly scratched and damaged, the carpets were stained, and the bathroom had dirty, deteriorated sealant around the shower and visible damage around the mirror. The overall condition of the room felt neglected and unpleasant. I did not feel comfortable staying there, so I checked out after only one night, even though I had booked and paid for eight nights. I informed the hotel that I was leaving early and requested at least a partial refund for the seven unused nights. Despite the condition of the room and the fact that I did not use the remaining stay, the hotel refused to offer any compensation. The photos speak for themselves. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting clean, well-maintained five-star accommodation or reasonable customer service when a serious issue arises.

The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and the staff is extremely professional, always available and attentive. We particularly appreciated the quality of the welcome and the kindness of the entire team. A special mention to Mohammed, the receptionist, who was a great help during our stay. Always smiling, attentive, responsive, and highly professional, he was able to assist us when we encountered difficulties that were in no way related to the hotel. His involvement and kindness truly made a difference. The rooms were comfortable, and the common areas were very clean. I highly recommend this establishment and thank Mohammed and the entire team again for their hospitality and professionalism.
