Tashkonak Hotel

Excellent family run hotel. Extremely friendly, helpful, giving good advices. The breakfast is superb. Excellent location too, just short walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi.

Perfect hotel! just a small flat, it lacks blackout curtains or shutters.

Due to flight delay, we stayed three nights in Istanbul. I chose this hotel to inspect without reservation because we wanted two bedrooms apartment style. We were happy so we decided to stay. We had to stay in a different room for second and third night due to one being booked for part of our stay. First night upon check-in, the staff was friendly to show the room and offered extra bottles of water. English communication was no problem. Second night after returning from sightseeing to check into a different room, staff changed. English communication was impossible. Had to rely on google translation. Asked for more bottles of water, got two more bottles but was told to buy ourselves if I want more. Third night there was no water at all so I went to ask. Rudely told that I was already told to buy ourselves. I would expect that plastic bottled water is complimentary at any hotels. When we went into second room on the second night, one of the beds was not made and missing duvet. Both rooms had leftover food in the fridges when we entered. Breakfast was somewhat simple in terms of selections. Otherwise location was excellent. Walking distance to most attractions on the old town side. Not sure if I will return to Istanbul for holiday, if I do I would consider other hotels.
