Celal Aga Konagi Hotel

Disappointing 3 night stay at this Wyndham branded hotel which is more like a 3 star than the 5 star it claims to be. Our room suffered from loose taps, a leaking shower door and a bath panel which falls out. Soundproofing is poor, meaning an interrupted nights sleep. This does mean that you will not miss the 5am Adhan! Choice of food at breakfast was limited and of poor the quality. Generally the staff were okay although they did excel when trying to sell tours and sightseeing experiences. If we return to Istanbul, we will not be staying here again.

What can I say: old-fashioned hotel, no windows in many rooms, you are under artificial lights all day long and rooms between two poorly soundproofed hallways, forgot the towels 3 times in 1 week, the staff is not smiling, you say "hello" and they barely answer you. Breakfast is always the same food, the coffee is freeze-dried. When you take a bath in the jacuzzi, they call you on the phone to tell you to close the bathroom door because it makes the hotel alarm go off, yet there is no ventilation in the bathroom so it immediately fills with steam. Given the prices of this supposedly 5-star hotel, there are others with fewer stars that look better maintained and have windows. I do not recommend it at all.

Room change after the 1st night because the window was broken and would no longer close. Shower door broken, would no longer close. Shower head holder also broken. 2nd room: a bed with a broken leg, fortunately there was an extra bed for us, bathtub problem with bathroom flooding when taking a shower in the tub. Whirlpool bathtub, no bubbles, system broken. Hotel to avoid… Furthermore, no organization at breakfast… huge lines, etc…
