Ortakoy Suites - Boutique Class

i stayed there for a week at october. they are very friendly, i felt like home. the place is just in the heart of Ortakoy. there is a street close by which has many restaurants and cafes serving to different choices. The bus station is very close. You can walt to Besiktas easily

Stayed here for 3 nights and it definitely wasn't 3 star standard- or any really. We had no hot water at all (we asked about this and got told no problem- to never see the owner again). The garbage truck does the rounds at 1 am and sits there for a while. No air conditioner as listed - only a noisy fan which was ridiculously loud. Id rather pay more money and stay somewhere decent!

So after arriving quite late and being taken on a fairly hefty and unnecessary detour by our taxi driver, we got to the so-called 3 star Ortakoy Home Suites. One of the staff met us and took us to the reception, where we paid for our stay. The main things of which we were disappointed about are: 1. We paid for our three nights stay in Turkish Lira, which was 370 at the exchange rate from the quoted 96 Euro. However I gave him exactly 370 of which he gave me 10TL change, as I think he realized he was ripping us off - as upon further inspection the exchange rate I found equated to about 320TL - so they must have made quite a commission. 2. The advertised home stay on booking.com showed that AC was available. Well this existed in the form of a huge fan in the room, with zero (nothing at all) or full whack (as in, a cyclone is coming through your room and you're not getting any sleep tonight) - so that was an experience 3. We did have wifi but the connection was terrible; we had to sit at the end of the bed to get connected, however it still cut in and out all the time. 4. As with other reviews I've seen on trip-advisor, the garbage truck comes to the area, and parks itself outside our front door for about 20 minutes whilst it processes or crushes the garbage it collects! All this happens at about 1am - without fail. 5. And to top it all off; after a long day traveling all we wanted was a shower, a hot shower that is - well, that didn't happen! No hot water so a birdie bath it was with cold water on the first night. The next morning we tried to speak with one of the staff (same person from the night before, who met us) that we had no hot water - we were quite certain that he didn't really understand us nor did he care, as he simply replied "no problem - go have breakfast" and then shrugged his shoulders and we didn't see him again for the next 2 days. Suffice to say that a 3 star rating for this place is not quite right - more like a 1.5. To be honest, the apartment itself was adequate, the bed was comfortable and the fridge worked and there was a water cooler of which we used. However, the whole no hot water thing and lack of service was pretty ordinary. When checking out there was no one available to hand the keys to so we just left them in the apartment. The photographs shown on booking.com did not in any way resemble the place we stayed at; nor did any of the other photographs from other people's stays show similarities.
