Hi guys, I dont usually write reveiws, but I always read them before I book a hotel, so I thought I,d better do my bit. We stayed at the Almina for a week on the 6 sept 2011 and found the following points DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL IF YOU DON,T WANT TO BE WAKING UP AT 4.30 BY 2 COCKERELS HAVING A SHOUTING MATCH. Honestly I live on a farm, but the chicken coup is right next to the hotel and was right outside our window, my son was woken at 4.30/ 5 am every morning, just what I needed a grumpy tired 20month old around all day. On the good side; 1) quiet location 2) staff friendly 3) Breakfast was ok but you could have better in town for half the price 4) Clean but basic rooms 5) nice pool area, shade for the little ones and sunny spots for the sun worshippers On the down side THE COCKEREL. 1) a fair way to walk to the beach 2) lots of steps down from reception and down to our room not ideal when our little one was fast asleep 3) Self catering is a joke, kitchen no existent, small 2 ring portable cooker and barely enough cu, there is even signs not to eat or drink anything in the hotel that was bought in from outside (SELF CATERING !!!!!!) 4) If possible the english were all put in basement apartments, and the better rooms were saved for turkish, apparently the owner gets more money from them. No veiws, the cockerel and the owners dog running off with our clothes that were drying outside and dragging it through the dirt, more than once 5) rooms are standard, there is a recess area for the shower which will catch you out if your not carefull, but we could live with that Hopefully a pretty honest reveiw, I wouldn,t stay here again because of the feathered friends, I would stay here again If the cockerels were not present.

We have been going to Gumbet since 2007 and normally stay elsewhere. Unfortunately, our usual accommodation wasn't available - so we chose to book the Almina as friends had stayed before and it came with good recommendations! We weren't disappointed.. When we got off our transfer at first we couldnt get our bearings (You'll find them soon enough) Just head left out of the apartment and turn right at the crossroads...you'll come to the bottom of Bar Street). The reception man was lovely! Couldn't do enough for us. We found the rooms to be very spacious with a living/dining/kitchenette area. Then there was the bathroom and just off that a smaller bedroom. There are no double beds here I dont believe. We had a TV/Satellite, small dining table/2 hob cooking rings and a kettle. Didnt really need anything more really! Cengiz the barman is really lovely (Hi Cengiz!!) He was always very patient, friendly and never passed us without saying hello, or asking how our holiday was going. The food off the bar menu was lovely! We got quite addicted to the onion rings - you have to try them! We hardly drank at the hotel but would eat our breakfast here most days. The pool area is lovely. Plenty of sunbeds for all - the only downside is that most are quite shaded, but if you ask I'm sure they'll take an umbrella down for you. The cleaner Semra (Hello Semra, nasilsin?) was really so nice!! She came to our rooms everyday to clean them and most days we were provided with fresh towels. The only thing I will warn you off which may be the case in most places, but never where I've stayed - If you dye your hair and it comes off on the towels, pillow cases, sheets - like it did with me. You will get charged. I dont blame them, why should they pay for it? But its just never happened to me before and Cengiz was very good about asking for the money. Lol! Be aware if you are walking home on your own some nights as the street from Bar Street to the hotel is quite dark and I wouldn't recommend it. Pay that extra 5 lira to get home safe! Also, dont touch the dog at reception..Lol! But thank you Almina for a lovely holiday! We'll be back in September, and if we dont stay here we will come say hi! x
