Balkaya Hotel

We honestly love this hotel !! It feels like a home from home to us , it's almost like we are staying with family. We have been going to the Hotel Balkaya since 2018, (apart from the Covid years). It is a Family run Hotel and it was clear from the very first time we arrived that they will go that little bit further to make your stay great. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned regularly with fresh towels and bed linen, the food is typically Turkish, with English dishes as well, always very tasty and well presented, the pool is lovely, spotlessly clean,not heated but honestly doesn't need to be. The reception area includes a spacious sitting area with sofas and comfortable chairs, with a stocked bookcase for chilling time, or waiting for your transfer.There is a covered eating area outside ,and a bar serving the usual drinks, Turkish tea is on tap, there is a coffee machine and a fresh water machine where we filled our flasks for days out. Dilek and Süleyman are marvellous hosts, and Ozzie is great behind the bar, the other front of house staff are often family members and they are helpful and very friendly. They mostly speak good English and will help you out with Turkish phrases and pronunciations if you want to learn. The hotel is situated within a quieter area of Ovacik just off the main road, and about a 15 minute walk down to Hisarönü , where all the bars and restaurants are. There is also a parking area (if you are brave enough to hire a car). Overall, you get the feeling that you are a valued and welcome guest.

Year after year, we find ourselves booking our return trip because of the unmatched love, care, and genuine hospitality provided by the incredible hotel staff. They treat us like extended family from the absolute moment we arrive to the moment we leave, going out of their way to ensure our stay is as flawless as possible. What truly sets the Balkaya Hotel apart is its incredible sense of community. It is a wonderful melting pot that brings British and Turkish people together harmoniously for days and nights filled with great fun, laughter, and cheer. Where language fails, we are bonded by music and dance—creating an unforgettable, unified atmosphere by the poolside. The dining experience is another huge highlight for us. The food is authentically Turkish, with an English twist, meaning there is always something delicious, fresh, and comforting for everyone at the table. Combined with immaculately clean rooms and a quiet mountain-view location, this hotel offers everything we could ever ask for. For our family, the Balkaya Hotel isn't just a place to stay—it's a massive collection of beautiful memories and lifelong friends. We cannot recommend it highly enough, and we are already counting down the days until our next return!"
