Maxwell 2 Apartments

nice apartments clean good staff, and close to shops post office plenty local restraunts and pubs. also close to thurs market just short walk, very short, and 10 min walk to boating area and start of beach area . plenty of buses to town centre only 3 lira about 1 pound so quiet cheap. would visit again, clean pool. cheap money exchange just down the road. no commision very good

Arrived early morning, helped to 3rd floor room with cases and pushchair, no lift despite stating one in brochure! On leaving room staff asked for money for air-conditioning, told them we would sort it in morning. Unknown to us you needed a remote control to turn air-con on and off, whenever we placed key fob in wall to turn electric on, air-con automatically came on, so thought no more of it and presumed we would pay bill end of holiday stay. 2nd day went to collect passports from reception only to be given another familys passports, if we had theirs, where were ours? 4th day and the air-con unit was leaking water all down wall and over tiled floor making it very slippery, went to reception to report it and asked to leave key for serviceman to repair air-con. After lovely evening out come back to find at least 100 lira stolen from room! Complained to reception, asked for holiday rep (who was on holiday), asked for police to be called, only to be told it was too late at night, and if we continued our complaint the next morning and rang police and had no way of proving our money was taken, we would be asked to leave apartment with our 3 young kids, keep quiet, dont fuss and we could stay! Considering it was our first time in turkey and unable to speak a word of turkish, for the sake of the kids we dropped the complaint, stayed at the maxwell 2 but decided to spend as little time as possible there, we ate out every day. This, however didnt go un-noticed and the staff soon changed their attitude towards us and started with the icy reception when we returned after evenings out. Within 4 days they had gone from being chatty and friendly to ignoring us and turning their backs when we needed help lifting the pushchair up and down stairs etc. It went as far as our daughter slipped in the restaurant downstairs and a member of staff, smirked and turned his back and pretended not to hear her cry! We would go out in the evenings only to be glared at and looked at in disgust, just because we werent spending money in the restaurant below our apartment block. Which brings me onto the subject of our run down apartments. The brochure and the internet show a lovely apartment block with pink flowers overlooking a pool, yes you can stay there if your finish, swedish of any other nationality. The british stay in the apartment block opposite overlooking a main road. No lift, no pictures on the wall, torn sheets the lot! Having done our homework we find out that the manager is "intolerent" of british tourists, much prefers finish tourists having lived in finland for 6 years, Now we no why there was finish flags flying, not a union jack in sight! At last our departure day, so pleased to be leaving this hellish place with its ignorant staff, and we get given a bill for 3 beers-15 lira. We ask for the receipt to see when it was, as the times we bought anything from the bar were few and far between, only for it to be 10th july 2007!! 3 year earlier! we were in spain then! So within 2 weeks we were robbed, accused of fiddling air-conditoning, (which we refused to pay for as we never requested it) blackmailed and ignored, so by all means book a holiday at the maxwell 2, but only if your not british and agree to eat there day and night you will have a good holiday! Oh and we have yet to find the childrens playground, take part in the daytime activities,make use of the nanny service and watch the weekly entertainment! and as for the kids club.....what kids club? None of these exist....you will book under false advertising. Good luck!!
