Oban Bay Hotel & Spa

Nice location, friendly staff and great welcome. Booked our room for dogs and have to pay an extra £25 a night per dog, so £200 for our stay, which if we were having a clean room I do not mind one bit. However room cleaning very poor, the bed was not even made 3 out of the 4 days, mud on floor from day one and dog hair still on edge of bed, bibs not emptied, tea not replaced etc paying £200 extra and get the worse service is not great and has reflected badly on the entire stay. As I say the front of house staff are lovely, very helpful and can not do enough, the bar has a good choice of beers and whiskey but overall let down completely by the housekeeping team.

The hotel is very elegant, with classy lobby. We had a Classic Double room, 362. Nice room but SMALL, and the bathroom is literally 3 feet wide, with the toilet facing the shower, so it is very difficult to sit down and getting back up is challenging - your knees are banging on the shower. The shower is very good and has plenty of hot water. The older lady that checked us in was very distracted and uninterested, not what I would call a welcoming reception. The room was not ready. She told us to sit down in lobby, so we did, and after a half hour I checked and she said she gave the key to my wife already. She gave the key to some other lady in the lobby, having forgotten who we were. Worst 'check in' process I have ever had. The included breakfast was excellent. The location is also close to town and very walkable.

Wow just wow. Loved the seaside dining. The location is fantastic with easy walk to the adorable village and the ferry and access to drive north. Parking is a big issue here so be aware. We had to park in a public lot which was inconvenient and we were petrified we were going to get a huge ticket. We tried to pay several times on the app while we were gone for the day but it didn’t work. It was only when we returned that we realized we didn’t have to pay until afternoon on Sunday and we had been trying for several hours since 9am. The sign in the lot was stickered over for Sunday. The hotel could have helped by supplying better information about this.
