Newbury Manor

Arrived evening 15.7.16 Hotel and grounds run down. Staff doing their best and who cannot be faulted. We found no restaurant open and breakfast was poor. Again the staff were doing their best. Cold tap on shower not working. You may ask why? Closing down on Sunday 17th July for a few months for refurbishment. Wish we had known as there were other options nearby which were fully functioning. When refurbished we will probably not be able to afford to stay there but at least the showers will work, hopefully. Again all credit to the skeleton staff.

Very disappointing. Room ok but nothing else warranted the price. Got back at 10:30 on a Saturday night and attempted to have a nightcap but bar was closed and reception not interested or apologetic. Hair drier nearly caught fire and when I went for a replacement was told 'we don't give them out'.

Stayed for one night for £50 including breakfast and was good value for money. Room was big with a lovely view of the river. Everything was very tired but they are having a refurbishment soon so can't complain really! The place has huge potential to be amazing! The cooked breakfast was good but poor coffee and bread let it down a bit. The bar was open but they had no ice and the white wine was warm. Would come back after the works are done as long as the price doesn't get silly!
