Comfort Hotel Reading West

The location is good for exploring Reading / Newbury area and the hotel's public areas are spacious and inviting. However, the staff were not inviting and I was treated very poorly by one lady receptionist who refused to give me her name twice. My main issue was the sofa beds - they are not fit for purpose and need to be changed. I could feel the metal springs under the fabric. Totally unsuitable for sleeping. I would avoid this hotel when it comes to service and sleep experience. Yes, I could have asked for a room change however the fact that the staff was so uninviting and the bedroom had a sofa bed which was set up for me and not checked for sleep experience by staff, told me that they don't care. I checked out.

Staff were very friendly and helpful particularly Emma who went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed the experience. One improvement I’d like to see is that if some items on the included menu are not available, then a substitute off the full menu could be offered. It would be nice to be able to select a main menu item by paying a supplement.

I visited Holiday Inn while participating for a business conference. The food was excellent and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Highly recommended for a stay just for yourself or with your loved ones. 👌
