Conveniently situated on A30. Clean and friendly hotel. Good food and very efficient and friendly staff

I just took some friends from motor club to The Ely and had an appalling experience. We booked this afternoon and were not told there was a problem. When we arrived we were told over half the menu was sold out! So basically hardly any food at all to choose from! See attached photo of the menu on which the waitress marked up all the food that was unavailable. We were limited to fish and chips or steak and ale pie. Both options were very dry and poor quality. We were still hungry so tried to order pudding, only to be told they had stopped even trying to serve them and had closed the kitchen. Also, a child was sick on the floor (not it's fault, these things happen) and it was not cleared up or mopped. The parents tried with some serviettes, but no staff attempted to clean it. The tables are currently set up for breakfast tomorrow and the residue will still be in the floor. It was all completely dreadful!
