Royal Hotel

The carpet hasn't been vacuumed for a while. The mattress is about as old as the building. There was hair baubles from the previous occupant of the room still on the bedside table.

Room was clean and big but without enough plug points - no usb at all. Comfortable beds. Staff friendly, great location. We were on a Caledonian bus tour and the food was awful. But it was a specific menu for Caledonian so can't comment on their usual fare.

The receptionist was welcoming and charming, the reception area was gorgeous, vintage glamour. The entire hotel has a beautiful and authentic untouched elegance that is a breath of fresh air compared to the mainstream chain hotels. That said, the room, as beautiful as it was, needed a little bit of restoration work done to it and the electrical outlets need to be firmer. Aside from this, the entire experience was wonderful and I slept in a large comfortable bed, surrounded by grand looking furniture, feeling like a princess. Now the 'spooky' part.... When I first arrived in the room, it felt welcoming and I felt completely comfortable throughout my time there. This was despite my hairbrush seemly appearing to semi levitate at a slanted angle at the dressing table and repeated feeling of someone sitting at the end of my bed. Again, I slept very well and felt completely at ease. This was my first ever 'paranormal' experience and it was thrilling! I shall definitely be returning in the future. (I think the room I stayed in was 64)
