Royal Thurso Hotel

Apprehension was how we were feeling before we arrived at the Royal. This feeling was short lived as our room was of a high standard, the shower is one of the most powerful I have encountered in the many hotels we have stayed in. Dinner was thoroughly enjoyable, 3 courses that were well presented and tasty. Drinks in the bar were well priced. The seating in the bar and lounge was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was fine with masses of toast and large pots of tea and coffee. The breakfast was plated up because they currently don't have a buffet serving unit, but we were assured this would be coming. A special thanks to Colin who lead by example and nothing was too much bother. All in all this hotel is now under new ownership and management and we fully expect it to be the first choice hotel in Thurso in the not too distant future.

The price was reasonable. The staff were pleasant. The food we had fish and chips bar meal and breakfast were good. The room number 5 was not as advertised by booking .com 193ft square with city view. It was more like 80ft square with no window only two bird dropping covered glass panels in the ceiling. The room was ridiculously warm. Also no spoons provided for coffee only wooden stirrers.

Not enough staff. The food sucked so eat somewhere else. Not very good breakfast. And wifi didn't work. Coffee reminds of when a coffee machine does its purification process
