Positives: - really comfy beds - lovely old building - bedrooms nice enough - great breakfast, really rated that - friendly, can-do staff (really so helpful and nice including with the booking itself to get the best deal) - handy location - good upgrade system where you can bid on a better room (excellent idea) - really good wine list Negatives: - Hotel du Vin, as a chain, used to feel special. But this has lost that - it just felt a bit tired and unloved (it could be that's the case for all of them, not just this one) - bar in basement was cold and nobody in it so no atmosphere - dinner was underwhelming (chewy scallops, overcooked and not very flavoursome fish pie) - bedroom was so hot (but to be fair, they did provide fans) - only one towel in our twin room booked for 2 (but to be fair, they brought a new one up straightaway) On balance, I'd probably stay again but I'd eat dinner elsewhere. Definitely breakfast here though - that was really good! Thank you again to the lovely staff.

Lovely hotel and amazing service from Pati. He was super helpful and made me feel so welcome on arrival.

We were looked after in the restaurant by Anda for two breakfasts in a row and what a delight she was. Friendly, informative, attentive and very kind. We stayed in a suite in your hotel and found it very comfortable and rather lovely. Shame about the big stain on the carpet and the hair line cracks in the bathroom sink - at first I thought they were long hairs! But apart from that, an incredibly comfortable bed and the whole place felt perfect for our short break. Perhaps a little update is required. All staff we met were fabulous and it helped make our weekend special.
