The John Barleycorn Inn

We had a fabulous stay at the John Barleycorn. Immediately on arrival we had a very warm welcome from the host and were shown to our room. The rooms are well equipped and very modern with everything you need , including a kettle and tea/coffee. The whole pub is a historical building and just a nice atmosphere to enjoy. Our car is quite big so we were pleased to see the pub has a large car park and garden area. We chose to stay because of the close proximity to the Air Museum (walkable distance) but the countryside around Duxford is great (we have cycled around the area and often there are WWII aeroplanes (Spitfire, Mustangs and Hurricanes) In the air! We had a good meal in the restaurant but the breakfast is probably the best full English I have had. Good quality ingredients , perfectly cooked and served piping hot. We have already planned our next Visit.

Last minute decision to eat here on Friday night. We used to come here years ago and thought we would give it a try under the management of new owners. What a great decision! Lovely atmosphere, really lovely staff and best of all great food. The menu featured some really nice dishes based on game. We all had a different one, and I can safely say they were all delicious! Well done team John Barleycorn, we will definitely be back

The wife booked a table as a suprise meal for my 70th birthday. What a suprise, there was a note in the front door window, "away for the weekend, back next week". They had not even e.mailed us to say they were going to be closed. The wife had booked this back in May. We spoke to several locals, who were not suprised as it happens regularly at this pub, no reason just does not open. They are hoping for new management to take over soon, as it used to be a nice pub.
