We've been to the races on a Sunday so decided to stay over at this hotel. Overall, we are very glad we did and hada great time there. There's a few things to be aware of though.
We had anticipated parking at one of the nearby car parks which are cheaper than the hotel one. Because it was the races though these were all full and we were delighted that we actually got a space in the hotel car park. Not so delighting was the fact that the buzzer didn't work and we had to wait a longtime before gaining entrance. In the end, another member of staff turned up behind us and let us in. It's £20 per night which seemsa lot but is fairly common in Chester
We had gone for this Sunday special offer which was terrific value for about £160 you can have any room but a suite and we went for the second best room in the place. It was huge! There was views over the courthouse and the roundabout and it was quite noisy actually. We did sleep well though as the bed is so comfortable and absolutely massive .
It says there is a separate living room which isn't really the case. It's more one huge room with dividers in there. The bathroom had a good shower and a nice bath as well. It was frustrating though that after the races I decided to have a bath and the fixed soap containers had nothing in them!
It was great to have air-conditioning though as it was warm and everything else you can imagine for this kind of hotel was in there. We were entitled to £40 each in the restaurant for dinner which allowed us to have plenty of food. You pay for drinks on top of itwhich is fair enough but the restaurant is gorgeous with views over the racecourse from the fifth floor.
Everybody makes a fuss about the breakfast but we found it just what we needed. A big glass of really good orange juice, help yourself to coffee and tea and then you get a choice of fruits yoghurt, toast and so on.
We found staff to be very helpful and pleasant and it was great that they allowed us to leave our car on the car park a little bit longer so we go shopping in the town.
I suppose the ultimate test is would we stay there again and the answer is yes. The negatives were niggles rather than any big deal and we left feeling we've had a lovely comfortable stay in a very good hotel.

Just had surprise weekend at this lovely hotel
Checked in a bit early and the lovely receptionist allowed us to check in, my car was parked in the underground ( first come first served basis) car park so that was perfect too.
From the minute we arrived I have to say what lovely caring staff!
From the house keeper to the lovely breakfast staff, just perfect!
Our cooked breakfast was absolutely lovely so thank you chef! Genuinely one of the best cooked breakfast I have had, freshly squeezed orange brought to the table by a lovely polite young lady.
Room was so clean, we had one without a racecourse view but was perfect, room was perfect temperature and lovely decor, bathroom spotless!
Totally impressed, I would thoroughly recommend!
