A friendly and efficient hotel. Staff are great and the rooms are spacious and very clean. Breakfast provides excellent hospitality and the best poached eggs I’ve ever had in a hotel (I stay away every week). Chef was fabulous and gave me clear instructions on how to Perfect my eggs at home. Thank you I will be back

Its a good location for visiting Chester, but that's probably the only positive. The rooms and hotel are tired and in need of modernisation. The furniture in the room was all wood, giving a dated feel. There were stains on the carpet and the fridge didn't work. Its a big bed which was comfortable but the sheet didn't fit. Bathroom was fine but just a bit dated. The view across to the racecourse and to the hills was great. The furniture in the bar area was also stained and tired. We didn't eat in the hotel choosing to explore Chester for all meals, which probably gave a much better value for money. Looked at the swimming pool, but I've seen bigger foot baths so didn't bother with that. For the price we paid definitely expected more.

Spent a night in this hotel on our way down from the Lake District. The location is ideal to explore the historic city centre of Chester. Convenient car park facilities too. We booked a club room which was of good size, and included a bath tub/shower. Storage was ample, and we of course had tea/coffee facilities. Unfortunately I had a bad experience in the restaurant during our dinner. I ordered Burrata as a starter and half way through I realised that the supposedly creamy centre of the cheese, was literally frozen. I pointed this out the server, who immediately offered another portion. To my disappointment I was told that all the cheeses would be the same. This was rather upsetting as at this stage I was worried about health and safety issues. I would nt have expected such food handling issues at a hotel chain that I trust. We were not charged for this dish, but it was not the point at all. Otherwise the stay was very pleasant, and I would highly recommend a day's trip to the city,.
