Mercure Chester Abbots Well

It's fantastic here!! We paid £108 for a small double. Room plus the extra £10 each for breakfast. (£18.99 each if booked once there) I cannot fault the place. Dog friendly so recommend to a few family and friends. Although I don't have a dog and my partner has allegies you wouldn't know dogs had been in. Very clean. The pool sauna steam room was fabulous and included in price. Used it both sat after arrival and before leaving Sunday. Location fab. 3 mile walk down the canal to Chester. 5 mins walk to park and ride to Chester. 20 mins walk up the canal to the cbeisure cat pub for cocktails and meal. Great value food and drinks. Had lunch here and then returned in the evening for drinks. Busy comfortable atmosphere. Also dog friendly. For kids it's between crocky trail and Chester zoo!! Back to the hotel facilities - The bar was well stocked and open late, room service is 24/7 (soup and toasties) the breakfast was 10/10 so much to choose from and good quality. Clean dining area. Staff worked hard to ensure maintained cleanliness between people. Staff here were welcoming at all areas - the reception, bar, breakfast and spa areas. Literally has the nicest friendly staff team here. The art work from a local artist is colourful and makes the place look fab too! Really enjoyed it and will be back.

The bedsheets were clean. We paid just over £200 for two nights. It felt more like a 2 star than the 4 star rating advertised. The room was very small, had a little fan on a desk which blew hot air in the heatwave - there was no aircon. No EV charger onsite and no lifts. We were locked out of the room any time we went out and they had advertised 'breakfast included' only to find that was not included & they required additional payment.

We have stayed here hundreds of times over the years, less lately as my husband had an accident. Last weekend our room was again spotless as was the hotel. David, Laura, Acash and Muksan are a credit to the hotel - very friendly and helpful. A little niggle in our room was sorted immediately by Kevin - many thanks. Yes the hotel is a little dated but its clean, friendly with beautiful gardens at the back and is next to the Park & Ride into Chester. We had an evening meal on this occasion which was faultless.
