Perhaps we were unlucky, but this was not a good experience. We stayed four nights at this hotel with my kids on summer holiday. On arrival, it became clear our room (myself and my fiancee) contained two single beds on different levels (one upstairs, one downstairs) with nowhere comfortable for us both to sit on either level. This could have been my own fault for not looking closely enough but the remainder of the stay suggested otherwise.
The kids’ room was split into two areas with one containing a double bed and a bay containing two singles. The bay got to nearly 40 degrees with only one small desk fan to cool it. The room itself was dilapidated, with stains across the walls and carpets. The kids noticed flushing the toilet led to urine rising through the floorboards. I reported this to reception, to a gormless stare from the receptionist. The janitor happened to be behind her and said he’d go and check. He checked. Nobody did anything. Other issues included he bath plug being impossible to remove from the bath and leaving three kids traipsing through our room for showers.
Day two onwards, we were woken at 06:30 to the loud sound of a cleaning cart being dragged through the carpark outside the room windows.
My fiancee reported these issues the third morning and the manager sounded concerned and promised an update. So far as we could tell, he then did nothing and certainly didn’t update us.
The food in the restaurant was inedible, the breakfast featured staff not bothering to offer tea or coffee so we had to bring our own and I needed to have a medical device delivered to the hotel on the second day. When I informed the gormless receptionist, she said they’d keep it behind reception for me. That morning, I received notification from Royal Mail that the hotel had refused delivery, leaving me breathing once every five minutes for all four nights.
The entire hotel was so badly maintained that few things worked. Neither room had a functional tv and, on a 32 degree day, it was even too much for reception to grab five bottles of water from right beside them and hand them across reception, even for the £1.50 a bottle they charged for thimbles of water.
In short, we hated it and will never return. Neither should you!!
