This did exactly what it said on the tin. Perfect location to both the racecourse and the town but very quiet and comfortable for a good night's sleep. Excellent facilities, which we didn't use as we only stayed for one night, however for a 2 or more-night stay, it would be very useful. Would definitely stay again and look forward to trying some other locations.

We stay in quite a few hotels each year, including regular visits to Chester. This was our first visit to this hotel and I am pleased to say this hotel is head and shoulders above the vast majority of the hotels we have stayed in. Let's start with the negatives. The entrance off Watergate Street is shabby. It needs a refurb of the signage, the handrail needs painting as does the yellow edges on the steps.Better planting would also help improve first impressions. In the room there was signs of wear and tear- paint slightly chipped and cup stains etc. It needs a minor refurb. That said none of it affected our stay. The hotel is in a great location with its own car park. However we chose to use the nearby Linenhall Car Park which is only a short walk away and was somewhat cheaper. We checked in and were immediately impressed by Andrea. I tend to avoid mentioning staff in my reviews as I don't like staff giving you a card with their name on asking for a good review and a mention. Andrea did not do that. She checked us in speedily and efficiently and was very helpful in explaining things to us. It was clear she loves her job and the hotel and her pride shows through. Definitely an asset to the company. We went up the stairs to our room on the first floor and were impressed. It was a good size and the view from the large sound proofed windows was of a Georgian Terrace and the Walls. The kitchenette was well equipped and spotless. The bathroom was wonderful with its heated floor and was well laid out. There was a sofa in the room so we could watch TV and swivel it round to watch it when in bed. The bed was really comfy so with the air-con on we had an excellent night's sleep. There were plenty of sockets next to the bed. One niggle- the bedside lights weren't really suited for reading. Good free WiFi. Down in the lobby there was seating and a few books to read. The tea/coffee machine was available for drinks as well as chilled water. And in the morning plenty of croissants. All in all an exemplary hotel and we would certainly recommend and return. Well done to all the team involved in this hotel.

We stayed as a family here so we could visit the zoo the following day. The reception we got was wonderful and welcoming, the lobby clean and friendly. The room was great to begin with. Very clean and well laid out. The problems came later in the evening when we were trying to sleep. Every hour the AC unit would cut out with a clang, and let the room get super hot, while it was loudly humming all the while. Which meant my daughter and I had extremely poor sleep. Not knowing I could .message the hotel directly. I used Expedias messaging service thinking the hotel staff would see it and help. But alas they did not see the message until morning. We are disappointed because it was an avoidable problem. And it hasn't put us off going back, it is a great property to stay at overall.
