Bad experince from the start. We were advised that a wedding was taking place which we didn't have an issue with however the hotel knew we weren't part of the wedding but decided to give us a room which was was as close to the wedding as you could get and couldn't get to sleep properly until the music finished at midnight. The most disappointing was the standard of the room. If we had booked to stay more than one night i can definitely say that we would have been checking out and finding alternative accomadation. Wallpaper peeling off the wall in multiple places, (which looks like it is due to damp issues) dust dangling from the ceiling. The same in the bathroom on the walls as well as from light fittings along with lights being pushed back from the holes in the plasterboard and the extractor fan falling down from its location in the ceiling. We had also booked breakfast with our reservation and only found out when we went for breakfast that if you want a full breakfast there is a £5 per person charge which there is no mention of when booking. In my opinion this hotel is no where near worth what they are charging and they need to do some major work to the hotel.

Sadly, I would advise checking the reviews before booking. Negatives first: We booked a spa package night away. The spa itself is very small, and don't think this should be classed as a spa. The pool and jacuzzi were cool although described as heated. The treatment areas were nice, however myself and another guest in our party both felt like the massage we had was rough and not relaxing, it was very fast as in the woman doing the treatment was swiping up and down our backs like a racing track... We paid to upgrade our room so we had use of robes and slippers. The room looked nice, slightly outdated, however the toilet flush didnt work, the hook on the back of the door was broken off and the shower soap dispenser was also broken. The worst part was the bed, I am 5ft, and my feet were dangling over the edge, the pillows and mattress also felt lumpy. Due to a wedding being on, this meant music was playing until midnight and guests were going back to their rooms until early hours (not what you want at a weekend of luxury). A party member received a glass of wine which was full of flies which made a staff member so shocked and put our guest off his drink and meal. We sat in the same area for breakfast, and the floor was still covered in food from the night before, but the absolutley worst part of this was the staff labeled a granola pot as "may contain nuts" so myself and a friend chose to have this, however my friend upon eating said this tastes like almonds, before I ate I asked a server to check who confirmed this did infact contain nuts. I told the wait staff, who then did change the sign- we had two members of our party with severe nut allergies and if they ate this, this would have caused anaphylactic shock. The main point of this review is to convey the seriousness of the allergen information on this particular yogurt pot as this could have ended in a serious matter. The positives of this place was that the staff were very kind, and the food at dinner was delicious - although we all wanted the cookie which we were told when looking to order dessert wasnt available. As we all had a meal allowance, it would have been good if they could have used the allowance against our drinks as not all party members then wanted to have desserts that were then available.

We booked a spa break as a rare opportunity to get away together as busy parents. We wished we hadn't. We booked the Rest and Relax package and came away feeling worse than when we arrived. Staff not at all bothered about guest experience, we weren't checked in to the spa properly, not given robes (and questioned when we requested them), given the wrong information from start to finish. Tiny towels with signs all over to say that's your lot. Barely felt worth going for a swim as the towel would be soaked and we had no robes for treatments. No one seemed to know what was going on at all at reception, spa or breakfast. Our massages were done in rooms that were brightly lit... Jarring to lift your head up to! Therapist zoomed through the consultation and treatment like she couldn't be bothered. The room was dated, creaky, tiny, hot, above a corridor, very top of a creaky staircase and overlooked a roof and a fan unit. The window opened all the way so you could have walked out onto the roof if you wanted! Absolutely awful experience. Fed back and raised the issues with the reception manager and was told she would email us as we hadn't factored in time for the discussion when planning our childcare. This email never happened. I've emailed a detailed complaint and requested a refund or a gesture of goodwill as we feel it was a complete waste of time and money. Not even the courtesy of a response. So I guess they're keeping our money and there's no goodwill to be seen.
