Iris Hotel

Absolutely awful! Rooms stunk of sewerage. Mould and damp in rooms bathroom mat full of mould when opened. 1* food hygiene rating! My advise do not stay here! Environmental health need to visit this place! Disgusting

Location couldn't have been any better, with a sea view room overlooking the promenade, which looking out to the pier. Also a classic show of old mini cars was right in front of the room and the atmosphere was just fantastic. The value for the price i paid was absolutely amazing to which we added an extra nights stay. This hotel has it all, all en-suite rooms, towels provided, soap, shower gel , tea + coffee, free view TV, breakfast with an amazing selection, and all this is included in the price which we couldn't believe. An amazing place with the most polite staff I have experienced and I have travelled a lot.

The location is brilliant. Right on the sea front and half a mile to the pier and town centre. That's where it ends. Our room, 306, has the hardest bed in the world. I enjoy a firm mattress but this mattress is akin to sleeping on the floor. So much so that I awoke with muscular pain around my ribs. The shower is adequate but the shower gel provided comes in the old fashioned, tiny, single use plastic bottles and are of the cheapest budget end you can get. The TV didn't work. By definition of a hotel you expect a certain standard of service. They advertise a bar service from 6pm to 10pm. That wasn't available. They advertise a cooked English breakfast for £6. That's not available. There is no 24 hour reception. The doors are locked in the evening but you are supplied with a key to access the building. This 'Hotel', and I use the term very loosely, is actually nothing more than a large Guest House with hotel prices. And to top it off, if you want to check-in after 8pm be prepared to pay extra fees for the privilege. Wish we'd paid the extra £10 and gone a few doors down to the County Hotel, or £15 to the Somerset Hotel.
