Booked through booking.com...requested a sea view through a message to the hotel on booking... received an email stating they would try their best...then received an email offering a sea view for a £20 upgrade, at this point I knew we weren't getting a sea view on the booking I made,so didn't bother upgrading as i felt I'd paid enough for the room as it was for a night only.
The reception desk is hit and miss if staffed or not, The staff that booked us in was lovely, the staff that booked us out...well there wasn't one, you just chuck your door key in a box on the desk and off you pop...
The lifts ,well you literally watch every floor pass ,through the gap in the lift doors lol .... The room...a family room, very basic, clean stained sheets, mainly black marks on white covers and sheets, nice stain of mold on the ceiling, no Aircon...but a great desk top fan in the outdated wardrobe, the view .....to die for! of a rock face lol , in the back street lol... the room size for a family room we it was like we'd rammed a double and a single in a box room lol .... Best part was ,there was one pillow per person, once we folded the pillow in half, aww bliss lol.... There was no hot chocolate for children, well it's a family room indulge... Actually there was nothing for children ,you wouldn't even think it was a family room.
We waved to people on the rock walk looking into our window behind the hotel just out walking their dog...on the 3rd floor lol ,that was the best laugh I had here...
Staff were lovely, but the building itself was like staying on the set of the shinning, I kept checking on my way out of our room for a set of twins on tricycles lol .
The breakfast ...the staff that greeted us on gaining a table, like the desk staff booking us in was again lovely, I grabbed a table with a sea view (saved £20 by not upgrading rooms lol ) best part of my stay that was.
It was a Buffet type, you help yourself, again this wasn't aimed at children...no chocolate spread,no Coco pops, this was aimed at maturer guests prunes and grapefruit yummy lol . Full English was lovely to be fair 👍.
Location was good ,and I was lucky with the parking on the street by the hotel after a nice man moved forward to squeeze my car in this was free from 6pm-10am the following morning where you need to run out and buy a £6 parking ticket for four hours parking.... Didn't require any ticket as breakfast is served from 7.30am-9am so after breakfast we packed, chucked our key in the box on the desk, couldn't thank anyone to be polite as no staff on the desk and left (quickly) .The Grand apart from the staff we did briefly see i feel doesn't live up to its name. Would I recommend a family room to friends? Only if they want a good laugh at trying to work out what the hell they bought into and spent good money on ....
Thank you to the staff we did come into contact with you were brilliant, as for the company... For the love of god put some omph into your family rooms ... Like hot chocolate for children, an activity spreadsheet...some mold treatment for the ceiling and extra pillows and towels,it's a family room for goodness sake 👍

⭐ 1/5 — The Grand Hotel, Llandudno
Title: Beautiful location, that's where it ends — filthy & terrible food
🧹 Cleaning — Appalling
🍽️ Food — Absolutely horrendous
The food was the worst part. Breakfast buffet had grey, rubbery scrambled eggs, dry bacon, and cheap, low-quality ingredients . Evening meals were barely edible — overcooked, bland, watery vegetables, and meat that was tough and tasteless . It was cold, unappetising, and completely lacking in flavour. We stopped eating there after the first night — it really was that bad.
✅ Only positives
- Stunning sea view, right on the promenade by the pier
- Some staff were friendly
❌ Summary
Don't be fooled by the grand exterior. It's tired, dirty, and the food is genuinely dreadful. Not worth the money — save yourself the disappointment and stay elsewhere.
Rating: 1/5 — would not recommend.

🧹 Cleaning — Appalling
The hotel is in desperate need of a deep clean and full refurbishment. Paint is peeling everywhere, walls are marked, and windows are filthy . Our room had dust, cobwebs, and grime in the bathroom — mould in the shower, questionable stains, and it felt unhygienic . Public areas were also neglected, with dirty spillages left uncleared and general tired, grubby surroundings . It felt unkempt and uncared for throughout.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel on Sunday the 16th August with the STar Tours group booking.
"value for moneys"
NOTE: It was better than the reviews I had read about it. YES, It needs refurbishment and modernisation if travellers want to pay higher prices in the future.
It is very convenient location, sea front rooms
