Great Western

We had a lovely stay at the Great Western hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had been refurbished and was very nice but there were a copy of cleaning issues there was a cobweb on the ceiling the toilet was not practically clean and there were a couple 0f issues in the bathroom the hand towel rail was too near to the toilet and the toilet roll holder was in a awkward place. The breakfast was very good. Generally we had a wonderful time & have stayed in the hotel a few times and would stay again.

Ignore the fact this hotel states it has a lift. We reached the 2nd floor by lift to then find we had to climb up 2 flights of stairs and down 3 flights to get to our room. Be aware the hotel is only separated from the pub by an internal door and there is no guest lounge. The web site advertises the cost of the different breakfasts on offer but omits to mention the price does not include tea/coffee or toast. On a positive note although small our newly refurbished room had a nice outlook and was lovely and clean.

This hotel is located in a perfect position for walking around Newquay. The front looks onto the man street but the back has a spectacular view of beach and sea. Although parking is at a premium in Newquay, the hotel offers parking spaces for £10 per day. You need to book this ahead of your stay, because of limited spaces. The hotel itself is an old building with some modern bedrooms in an extension. Although the main part of the building is older, it’s clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. There is a lift or stairs to Reception and the bar and vast food serving area. The cooked breakfast is extensive and the continental offering good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Newquay. Remember to ask for a sea view!
