The Countryman Hotel

Arriving passed the 7pm check in time, I greeted and welcomed into the hotel by the proprietor who had kindly waited for my arrival. The room is comfortably furnished, well decorated and of a high standard. The bed was beyond comfortable.... Sufficient tea, coffee and milk were available in the room to be enjoyed. Once settled into my room, I took advantage of a piping hot shower in a shared bathroom just along the corridor. Breakfast is served in the pleasantly decorated breakfast room where you are allocated your table. On choosing coffee, I was served with a whole coffee pot of filtered coffee which was greatly appreciated as one cup in the morning is never enough! Take Note 5 * hotels) A full English breakfast soon arrived, accompanied by toast of your choice...I can't get English breakfast in Vietnam so this was a real treat...is it rude to lick the plate? Further toast was supplied so I could once again enjoy the taste of good old marmite!! Breakfast is leisurely, with all guest breakfast requests accommodated for will minimal fuss. During the short wait for breakfast to arrive, it was a pleasure to engage with the other guests who where also enjoying their stay... I lived in Cornwall for many years however, access to Cornwall's North Coast attractions are all but a short drive from the Countryman Hotel so, a visit to Tintagel is a must. Big thank you to the proprietors for their hard work and effort in making it a pleasurable stay.

Stayed just the one night. This hotel is situated close to Camelford town centre so is very convenient for local amenities. The hotel itself is quite old-fashioned in style and vibe, and you get a pleasantly old-fashioned welcome when you arrive. It's a little basic, especially in the rooms, but it's comfortable, tidy and most of all it is very clean. One of the cleanest rooms that we have stayed in for a while in fact. We had breakfast, which was for me a full English with VERY nice bacon. Other options are available, including cereal etc and other cooked options upon request. One suggestion would be that it would have been nice to know beforehand what the breakfast options were. So perhaps a printed breakfast menu in the bedrooms. Overall, this is a perfectly nice little hotel and well situated. Parking is behind the hotel.

Booked very last minute. Nice bright room, clean, plenty of hot water and kettle with tea/coffee. We enjoyed our breakfast which set us up for the day: bacon top quality and nice coffee. Owner is lovely and server very helpful. Ample parking within the hotel grounds. A short stroll to a cheap and cosy bar The Mason Arms where we watched the World Cup. Thanks for a top stay.
