The Glendeveor

Great place to stay, close to town, restaurants, and train station. Great communication leading up to stay. Ample parking, warm welcome from host, explained routines, tour of onsite amenities, and very clean accommodation. Comfortable, spacious bed, great view (room 25) enjoyable stay, have enquired for next year!

Such a shame to say this but despite their being a lovely and wonderful manager John, we left feeling very disappointed. Yes it’s in a great location but we were charged over £650 for 3 nights but in reality, I would of expected for a hotel of this standard to be charged no more than £80-£100 per night. The rooms were very dated, the overall facilities tired and worn and the overall impression we had was that it is in serious need of a refurb. Like I said above, the manager was lovely and welcoming but there was a serious gap in price v expectation. I do have my suspicion that online cookies had a part to play in the ridiculously high price we were quoted and ended up paying - note to myself, clear out my cache on booking.com!. Parking is also a challenge and some guests have to park down the road in a public car-park due to limited number of spaces on-site. The tip of the ice-berg for us in terms of being unhappy, was when my wife found a used sanitary towel in the bin, clearly left there by the previous guest and not noticed by housekeeping.

One of the best places I've stayed for a break. John gave my mum and me such a wonderful welcome, and we felt very safe. Our room and the other spaces were clean and comfortable. John's personality makes the business; it is something I'll look forward to in our future visits. I'm sorry we couldn't say goodbye in person, but I'll make sure my mum books the Glendeveor again for our next stay! A reminder, this is a B&B run by a very kind man, this is not a hotel! Everything in our room and building spaces was clean and comfortable; our room was very cosy. You’re a minute's walking distance from Newquay town centre. You have multiple beach options to choose from on the Newquay coast. John ensured we felt safe the whole time there, only customers of the B&B can enter the building using key fobs. Breakfast is free and served from 8 - 10, no dinner or tea because it's a Bed and Breakfast, not a restaurant. If you’re looking for a cosy and local run B&B, I would recommend The Glendeveor!
