This will be our fourth stay at this hotel. The location is perfect and parking is included. Unfortunately our stay this year was not the usual standard. We arrived early and check in was 3pm. We return to the hotel at 3.10pm to be told the room was not ready. I did not feel this was acceptable especially when paying over £500 for 2 nights. When we questioned why we were told they had a large party that day, I'm not sure how or why that would delay our check in. I asked if complementary drinks could be provided while we waited and they did give us one drink each. When I returned at 4.15 the room was only just ready.
We had a lower ground floor room where a private garden area is provided but no door to get to it. There were children sat in that area right outside the window which was not private when getting ready. Only one window out of two opened slightly, bearing in mind it was hot weather.
Normally they leave you with complementary gin in a decanter, this was empty on arrival.
There were 2 weddings and the music was so loud we could hear the songs in the room. Also the children were running up and down the hallway while we were trying to sleep. I really don't begrudge people having a good time but notice from the staff would have been good.

A perfectly positioned hotel with wonderful views across the water , or sand depending on the tide , two minutes walk from the harbour. Padstow is a charming bustling little town with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Rock is a 10 minute boat ride away from, serviced from the far side of the harbour by a ferry (£3 each way for adults, £1.50 for children ) which has a few restaurants, a beach , and a fantastic golf course in St Enodoc.
The hotel is nicely appointed , and the staff are willing and helpful. On site parking is tricky at busy times as there are less spaces than rooms. We managed by arriving for our 2 night stay at around check out time ( 11am) when it is at its quietest , just make sure you pop in and put your car registration into the machine on reception. Not all the rooms have aircon, ours didn’t ( room 35 ) and in the middle of a heatwave we had to sleep ( or not) with the windows open. It wasn’t the heat , the hotel is airy and we had a fan in our room, it’s the noise. If you weren’t woken at 5am being told that a delivery lorry ( one assumes) is reversing, it was a dustcart collecting bottles ( by the sounds) accompanied by the traditional dustmen’s need for shouting and going!!
We only ate breakfast at the hotel , which apart from the Richmond style cheap sausages was fine with a £10 supplement to pay if a continental breaky doesn’t float your boat. We didn’t fancy eating breakfast and dinner in the same place, which is just us. The views are breathtaking.
Overall , we would return, maybe out of season, to a nice friendly hotel and town lost back in time in all the best ways.
Didn’t bump into Rick!

We stopped for 4 nights in June as part of a break to Devon and Cornwall. The hotel is ideally situated for the Padstow harbour area with good parking.
Our room was on the top floor, spacious and well furnished.
Continental breakfast was fine for us and the quality of food for evening dinner was excellent with a good choice on the menu.
Whilst housekeeping changed our towels and made the bed each day there was a lack of attention to cleaning in the bathroom.
We wouldn’t hesitate to return and had a great stay.
