Fabulous location and a beautiful building. The pool/Jacuzzi was a bonus and the staff were lovely especially Rosalind who looked after us at breakfast- what a lovely woman. Fabulous breakfast service. However the Peace and Plenty restaurant was a disappointment. Lovely staff but a long wait for meals(40 minutes) and meals not meeting expectations. The lamb was shredded,then molded and was dry. The potatoes were molded too, but were hard and should have been buttery and mashed and the cabbage was hardly worth putting on the plate as it amounted to a teaspoonful! Three slices of almost raw carrot ( supposed to be al dente) and a smidgen of pea purée. Not worth the price at all. The amount would not even remotely fill a grown man and my husband was hungry very soon after eating. The puddings ( lemon posset) were very lack luster and again not worth the price. We would not eat there again. Not quality and not value for money. The superior double bedrooms decor was tired. Such a lovely hotel and reception area but with tired room decor. The bathroom we had was dire. I loved the hotel, location and staff but the rooms are not good enough even for 3 star hotel.

Great Location, fantastic old building. Parking is limited but we managed to get a place. Rooms a bit dated but all goes with the character of the building. Would definitely return.

Staff were very good but hotel is dated and disappointing. Pool was freezing, jacuzzi was filthy, 4 tiny lockers in pool area and 2 were broken. Charing premium prices for below average rooms and food. Won't be back.
