We visited the 1769 twice during our stay in Grasmere. On both occasions it was for food and drink. We were not disappointed. The bar was full of atmosphere and the main barman was great, very customer focused and a pleasure to be served by. Also, the food we had on each visit was very tasty and great value. Well worth a visit.

We stayed at The Inn at Grasmere for almost a week in July, we loved our stay there and would happily return if we were in the area. On arrival, there appears to be little parking however when we arrived we were offered parking at a sister hotel nearby. We dropped luggage at the hotel then parked our car at the sister hotel, which was a short walk away. This was perfect. The hotel has air con throughout the bottom floor which included the bar and a lounge area. I was so thankful for this as I was heavily pregnant and temperatures for most of the week were mid 20s-30s. We also made use of their pool during the height of the heat during the day. The pool is very relaxed, you can come and go as you like. This hotel has the most lovely, welcoming atmosphere all down to the staff. We actually ended up eating here most evenings as it was so relaxed. Breakfast was perfect, with something to suit everyone. Manuel and his team were so helpful at all times. Manuel was so cheery every morning, he is an asset to the hotel. If you are unsure which town/village to stay in while in the Lake District, we loved Grasmere. It was a smaller village, but it had so many nice cafe's, shops. During the day it was busy but by evening it was so peaceful. There are so many nice walks that you can do around here for all levels of abilities. Overall we loved our stay here!

Staff were all fabulous, great atmosphere just the bedroom let it down. We had a deluxe room booked and didn’t live up to the photos on the website. Also put up beds left in the corridor for two days. Food wasn’t great but not terrible and found the plastic security tab in the fruit compote. Wouldn’t stay again but sister hotel The Bridge looked good plus guaranteed parking.
