Best Western Castle Green Hotel In Kendal

We’ve just come back from a lovely weekend stay at Castle Green Hotel and honestly couldn’t fault it. We stayed from Friday to Sunday, and from the moment we arrived, the reception staff were so welcoming and helpful — it really set the tone for the whole stay. The hotel itself was spotless, and our room was beautiful, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast each morning was really good with plenty of choice, and all the staff we came across were friendly and attentive. Overall, we had such a relaxing and enjoyable weekend — exactly what we needed. Would definitely recommend and would happily return again!

Hotel was ok for the cost. Room was quite spacious and had onsuite shower and toilet. TV is a smart one which does allow for YouTube etc, however be aware of using it as I found other previous users video accounts on it which I promptly removed for their own privacy/security. Breakfast is nice and the on site complimentary use of the gym and steam room is good. Didn't use the pool as in weekdays you need to reserve a lane. Unfortunately first night sleep was interrupted by a fire alarm at 04:30 so the whole hotel had to vacate to the fire areas outside for 20 mins or so!. This then had a knock on effect in the morning as had no hot water in the room for a shower before breakfast, only to be told by reception the hot water had gone off due to the fire alarm. Why this wasn't known earlier and sorted ready for the morning use I'm unsure. Also you can hear most of what is going on in the corridor if people chatting outside so rooms are not sound proofed to any degree. Rooms are nice and clean though and the staff working at the hotel are pleasant and helpful including the gym. Location is OK but on the outskirts of Kendal but is about 15 minutes drive to Windermere which isn't too bad if not in heavy tourism traffic. Plenty of parking on site too but be aware if not booking direct through the hotel for accommodation that you will need to pay £10 per night. Also if arriving on a Sunday check in time is 3pm and not the standard 2pm I was expecting.

The hotel start from the reception was terrible. We have staid there few times and each time is getting worse and we will not be staying there ever again. The receptionist lady took a deposit of £50 on top of the £173 for the night and £10 for the car park which it wasn’t listed on the website or told at the arrival. The lady just said I’ll take £10 from the £50 that she took and that is because we didn’t book directly with them which we thought we did. The breakfast was over cooked and watermelon was rotten. Not the breakfast you should eat really. We are from Kendal and live in Buckinghamshire and have family here so we do come frequently and castle green hotel and its employees are not the people we will be seeing any time soon. I would strongly suggest to not go unless you really have too
