Greenbank Country House

We stayed at Greenbank for my Mum's birthday. There were 17 of us and we had a wonderful time. All rooms were immaculate and clean with lovely furnishings. Spacious and light with plenty of places for cosy chats. A gorgeous garden with tadpoles for little ones and a fire pit for evening drinks. Practically, all the crockery, glass and utensils you could need to self cater. Wonderful host who couldn't have been more helpful. We'll be back.

Just got back from a three night stay, absolutely loved this property ! There were 16 of us , (8 couples) friends from all different parts of the country . Greenbank was perfect . All the bedrooms were lovely and the fact they are all ensuite ensured we were all happy . The kitchen has everything you could possibly need ,plenty of fridge space ,utensils,and kettles ! There was never any waiting for a cuppa and it was so easy to heat up meals . The dining room was enormous with enough chairs for 20 ,all seated round one large table. I felt like I was eating at Downton Abbey especially with the candles ! The two large lounges were cosy and comfortable, all the sofas were covered with throws which was especially useful when we wanted to sit outside in the evening. There was also loads of wood available should we have wanted a fire ,but this was not necessary as the heating came on a couple of times a day so we were definitely warm enough . Location wise its great, only a few miles from Keswick (there's a bus at the end of the road every half an hour ) , there are loads of places to walk or hike , Derwentwater is 5 mins away , its easy to get to any of the other lakes ,or the coast . There's also a large garden with enough furniture for everyone should you just wish to stay there and enjoy the views( which incidentally are magnificent). There are lots of good places to eat in Keswick and the surrounding area, but I would definitely recommend the Borrowdale Hotel which is at the end of the garden. It's a beautiful setting, the service and food were great . Janet the owner is brilliant, she came to greet us when we got there and was available to help if there were any issues (not that there was!) She was very laid back and nothing was any trouble . All in all it was a fantastic place to stay , perfect for large families or groups of friends. Everything was clean and comfortable and you felt at home. We are all really keen to stay there again. 😊

We stayed here as a family of 16 for a birthday celebration and it was absolutely perfect. Decorated beautifully to match the gorgeous views from the windows! Having wifi included was ideal, since there was barely any signal out there otherwise, not to mention the smart tv in our room. My 3 year old nephew was fascinated by the pool of tadpoles besides the house, and spent most of his stay exploring the land around the house. I can’t recommend this place enough :))
