LakeSide House

The male owner (I presume Ivan ?) behaved in a bizarre and aggressive way when I tried to check in and ended up saying he didn’t want me staying in his house . So at 5pm on a Saturday evening I had nowhere to stay . All Keswick hotels weee sold out online so I had to walk the streets calling into each of the big hotels until eventually I found a room . This was a scary and unsettling experience and is no way to treat a fellow human being , far less a customer. Then he had the cheek to charge me one night’s cancellation fee! Lesson for me is to look beyond the headline ratings which are excellent and read the low ones very carefully

My partner and I just returned from 3 fantastic nights at LakeSide House. We couldn't have been more impressed! The rooms are spacious, airy and spotless, and the beds are very comfortable. We had a room with fell views looking out towards Catbells which was so peaceful to wake up to each morning. We didn't meet one of the owners (Holly) but Ivan was lovely and went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable stay for us, as did the rest of the team. Our stay had breakfast included. It is served at a good time (8-9am) and there is a great range of hot and cold options catering to every taste (and lots of the menu is vegan and vegetarian friendly, and much is also gluten free). We tried a range of options, including the avocado toast, the Cumbrian breakfast and the homemade granola yogurt pots. The food was delicious and quickly served. The location is great, only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Keswick and five minutes to Derwentwater. We travelled to Keswick by bus and found it easy to get to the hotel. We thought the price is very reasonable. Sure, it's not the cheapest accommodation you might be able to find, but it's well worth it in our view. Overall we had a very relaxing and comfortable stay, and can't recommend LakeSide House highly enough.
