Lodore Falls

A wonderful hotel in a superb location. Lots to do and facilities and staff excellent. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

We stayed at Lodore Falls on August 4th for our anniversary. The staff were fantastic and helpful throughout, and the hotel sits in a beautiful location with a lovely overall atmosphere. We also really enjoyed our lunch and dinner at both on-site restaurants. Unfortunately, several issues impacted our overall experience: * Room Comfort: The hotel was unbearably hot during our stay, and the bed was extremely soft, leading to back discomfort. * Room Details: There was an approximate one-inch gap under our door that let in significant light and noise overnight, which I had to block with a rolled-up towel. There was also no mini-fridge in the room, meaning no fresh milk for tea and coffee. * Breakfast: While lunch and dinner were great, breakfast fell short. My wife is gluten-free and requested alternatives for her Cumbrian breakfast; this simply resulted in her sausage and black pudding being removed rather than substituted. Despite asking, no gluten-free bread was provided. * Spa Pricing: Given the room rate, charging a steep additional fee to access the spa facilities felt excessive for what was offered. While it wasn't a bad stay by any means, it didn't quite live up to the high recommendations we’d received from past guests, and we likely won't be rushing back.

We had a fantastic stay. The service is excellent and we always feel so well looked after by everybody in the hotel. Our room was very comfortable with a wonderful view of Derwentwater. The food was delicious. Everything was superb.
