Can't fault the value, room was clean, breakfast was good. Historic building, ceiling in the bar area is stunning. Nothing to worry about. Earplugs supplied incase its noisy, its city centre. Fan in room. Tea/coffee making facilties. WiFi. Central to shops, bars, restaurants. Good value base

Some really mixed reviews so did not have high expectations It is in a great location with a nice entrance and reception area Most of the rest of the hotel is badly in need of refurbishment All staff were friendly and helpful Some low cost improvements would make a big difference and make a more enjoyable stay We werein room 115 and the window needs to be refitted as there is a gap and even with the earplugs provided there is still a lot of street noise which would be greater on the weekend The net curtains need to be replaced or just washed and refitted The furniturewhich is very dated,needs to be rearranged so that the TV is on a set of drawers in the middle of the room The beds were comfortable and bed linen and towels were clean Bathroom was clean Housekeeping replaced towels daily The breakfast buffet was good with hot and cold options It was satisfactory for a couple of nights

The room was dark and very dated window and curtains were dirty the carpet was dirty with uneven floorboards. The bathroom was terrible with black tape all around the base of the tiles which were broken by the sink also there was no toilet roll holder it had been broken off the wall there was a hole in the bathroom door generally very tatty. The main areas in the hotel were better but then they couldnt have been worse.The dining room was clean and bright and the staff helpful. The lady on reception when checking in was rude with a very poor attitude. Definetly wouldnt stay here again and would not recommend to anyone.
