George Hotel

The George has been my go to stop over on the road South for over 30 years. The lounge is an excellent spot for tea or today for breakfast. Breakfast is Cumbrian portions at a very fair price. Time has stopped still. It is comfortable, unpretentious and a very pleasant stop. Disc parking literally right outside too. Don’t change it: you are getting it right!

The hotel was very good overall but the bedroom was quite small and not a lot of room at each side of bed. The staff were all OK. We would stay again if we had a better room.

Visited with two friends for a coffee and cake, we were abruptly welcomed, we ordered our coffees and presented with our bill before our coffees even arrived. Made to feel unwelcome by other guests because we had children, there were no pleasantries at all from staff. Will not be returning which is a shame as we live locally!
