Shap Wells

This is a lovely hotel in a very secluded position. The decor is art deco and beautiful but a little bit tied. Just a few little touches would make it perfect. Well, what can I say about the staff. Absolutely lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. Always go out of the way to help you. 10/10 especially Shabeen, Pauline, Tom and not fogeting the lovely Nevan.. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Booked here because of location, reviews & photos. Sat nav sent us to the rear entrance, avoid it like the plague worst road i have ever travelled, turned round and found the front entrance, single track road, hope you do not meet the many coaches that use the hotel. Everything was of very poor standard in the rooms, peeling wallpaper, broken curtains the list could go on. Was offered a 2nd room which was just as bad Originally booked as a special trip, 52nd wedding anniversary. Demanded money back and left. Beware of this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, very art deco internal decor in the main areas. Room was very nice, quiet, cool and comfortable. Dinner was delicious and well managed, breakfast was not as good. We had to book a time but when we arrived there was no table set for us, food was not the best, eggs really hard, no sausages left, it was buffet style and by the time we got back to the table our coffee had been cleared away though it was untouched! "Road" to the hotel is more like a farm track with big potholes but the actual grounds were beautiful. Would definitely go back.
