Probably good for older couples only, Young couple and families should stay clear .. Hotel staff Clunky check in with policies from the 90's, hard to get past. No problem leaving a deposit for " old school " incidentals paranoia " but apparently MUST be from the same card you booked with. On a trip booked in various ways, the admin was ridiculous nuts. With only my phone with me ( high % of travelers guests ) they ridiculously had to refund the room and re charge it with a card I found in the car, , then me not knowing the pin caused the usual issues, but was able to add the card onto Google pay and apparently fine. Awful way to start a luxury stay that's pre paid. When we got past that, unfortunately the cleanliness didn't live up to standard ( move chairs , full of dust , and the air air con non existent. But honestly the poor welcome due to having in having to pay deposits with physical card, despite room being pre paid was the issue that left us.

Hotel is no where near 5star, was booked as little honeymoon break after wedding to just reset. First room had marks all over the walls and headboard, one of the windows had a crack in it, staff didn’t seem bothered by any this when we went to desk. When we went back to room we decided to ask if we could be moved as room just felt dirty. The next room was better but still marks on walls and didn’t feel 5star at all. Spa is ok but has loose tiles around pool and I did cut my foot open on either one of the loose tiles or something on the steps into the cold plunge pool. Spa properly needs to be number monitored as when it’s busy it feels cramped. For the price that is charged per night you expect it the place to be top condition and feel like it is 5star. Didn’t eat in hotel but from drinks prices it’s expensive when you can walk down to the town.

I visited Lakes Hotel & Spa in Windermere with my family, and unfortunately our experience left us feeling unwelcome. As an Asian family who had been looking forward to this trip, the service we received was noticeably different from what we observed other guests receiving. At check-in, a staff member named Patrick was polite and friendly toward several white guests, helping them with their luggage, but was cold and dismissive toward us and made no effort to offer the same assistance. The experience continued at breakfast, where, despite there being many empty tables available, a waitress asked my elderly grandparents to move while they were already eating. Throughout the meal, we also felt that staff repeatedly stared at us in a way that made us feel uncomfortable. While I cannot know the staff’s intentions, the difference in treatment made us feel singled out because of our ethnicity. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel, especially to other Asian families or people from ethnic minority backgrounds. We left feeling that we were not treated with the same respect and warmth as other guests, which completely overshadowed what should have been a memorable family trip. I sincerely hope the management investigates these concerns and ensures that every guest, regardless of their race or background, receives the same level of hospitality and respect.
