Booked a dog friendly room for a stay whilst on the way to Scotland to see family. Hotel sounded great when I was booking. Sadly the reality didn't live up to the write up!! Paid £250, for a night, which is steep enough. But arrive at hotel to find it's an additional £25 for a dog, plus another £10 to park in the hotels own car park. Daylight robbery comes to mind! We then find the allocated room was at the back of the hotel. Worse was the window was opaque and had no view at all. Just the sky and a top of a tree!! It turns out that the other side of the window was the hotel bin store. Whilst I didn't expect to see the lake, I would have liked to have seen something of Bowness roofs, buildings a distant hill perhaps, is that too much to expect from a hotel in Bowness? We didn't complain on check-in, it's the last thing I want after a 6 hour drive! I did however complain on check-out and was given an email address to complain too (albeit an incorrect email address) When I did get the correct email, the response was rather dismissive. Apparently I should have complained to reception and I had booked at relatively short notice. Frankly no apology or any justification. It would seem that they just want to fleece customers for as much as possible!!

Fantastic hotel and great staff, the food is amazing, very professional and we witnessed staff dealing very professionally with difficult customers, Bashie was a very hardworking young waiter who was exceptional, the restaurant staff were excellent, we would highly recommend to everyone, well done 👏

Location was brill although the hill was a challenge. Room was perfect and the voucher idea for a freebie drink was good if you declined housekeeping. But you do have to claim per day. Perhaps if housekeeping could pop the voucher under the door if not used that would be easier. Our room was as described and looked newly refurbed. Couple of small niggles, the parking, because it is open to the public perhaps free parking to hotel guests as per many in the area. Also the walk way being used by guests checking out in the morning constantly crossing the restaurant was somewhat annoying: perhaps use the corridor instead. Also someone walked through with a barrel of what looked like chemical was a bit off putting whilst eating breakfast. Otherwise friendly and helpful staff but why keep telling guests “we are short staffed” as that is not our problem. Probably won’t stay at the Ro again but our stay was quite nice thank you. Prosecco was a nice touch also
