LAKES LODGE

The hotel was fine. Quite outdated but did the job for what we needed. Clean and the breakfast was great. Sadly my experience here was lowered by Andy. We arrived the same time as another group and I greeted him by asking how he was. His answer of "fine till all you lot turned up" was a suprise but I brushed it off as Northern humour. I later spotted it was clear we had interrupted his intense game of Solitaire... A 5 minute explanation of how a door works followed. All of this inbetween casual racism even describing one gentleman who had enquired while we were waiting as "all looking the same". As I stood in a bit of shock I was then surprised to here him proudly announce he was racist. Interesting... Breakfast was fine but again his hosting skills were very odd. Asking us to ask for each individual item rather than ask for a full English and remove the items we didn't want as he "doesn't like waste". Fair enough again however surely just mentioning the 1 item I didn't want was quicker than listing 5 items I did. There's not much else to say, the room was fine, nothing more morning less. The value for money was good, but I didn't need the additional freebie casual racism and educating on every little facet of how simple things work.

Thank you to Maria for my lovely stay! This lady is extremely hard working and super professional, she takes very seriously the cleanliness and tidiness of this establishment, the breakfast was simply excellent none of the cold buffet type breakfast here, cooked to order, selection of cereals and yogurts, and then a wonderful full English breakfast served to you, and cooked exactly to your liking, fantastic! This is a traditional old fashioned beautiful Lake District building with charm and a warm feel. My visit was in winter it was almost freezing outside, but the rooms and property was kept wonderfully warm, and the radiators were lovely and warm in my room too. The whole place is kept immaculately clean by Maria (I think this lady is one of the owners maybe) the entrance, hallways, toilet, and breakfast dining area are spotless! Thank you very much for your kindness and help,I forgot to bring a wire to charge my phone, Maria could not of been more helpful in wanting to help me with a replacement wire for my stay, and couldn't have been more helpful! Not fancy but so convenient and clean with a great Full English Breakfast. Andy, is so helpful. They have limited parking but he will juggle cars around so that everyone gets a spot. Andy is likely the reason I gave five stars. The shower was a bit off putting because the temps changed from hotter to cooler and then back. We just needed a room to sleep because otherwise we were off with Mountain Goat Tours which is right across the street. There are lots of restaurant option in the center of town. It was good choice.
