Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel

Very disappointing experience at Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel. I booked a particular room/suite based on the photographs shown when making the booking. Because the room was important to us, I even telephoned the hotel beforehand and specifically asked whether all of the photographs shown were of the room I was booking. I was told yes. When we arrived, however, the room — particularly the bathroom — was not what had been represented in the photographs. The bathroom we actually received was not shown in any of the pictures I had been looking at when booking. When I raised this afterwards, the response suggested that I should have specifically asked about the bathroom. I find that argument very difficult to accept. I had already asked whether all of the photographs were of my room and was told they were. There were only a small number of photographs, and nothing indicated that the bathroom shown was not the bathroom I would receive. Had I been shown an accurate photograph of the actual bathroom, or been told during my phone call that some of the photographs were not representative of my specific room, I would have been able to make an informed decision before paying for the stay. What has made the situation worse is the way my complaint has been handled afterwards. I gave the hotel the opportunity to address the issue directly and explain why what I was told on the telephone did not match what I received. For me, this isn’t simply about preferring one bathroom over another. It’s about whether a customer is being given an accurate representation of what they are paying for before they book. I have photographs/screenshots showing what was advertised and photographs of what we actually received, so people can make their own judgement. Unfortunately, based on both the stay and the handling of my complaint afterwards, I cannot recommend the hotel.

We had a wonderful week long stay, Ashley and the breakfast team were so attentive, friendly and cheerful, they made our stay feel very relaxed and enjoyable. We stayed in a superior room which met our expectations perfectly. The room was spotless and had everything we needed during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable too. We had breakfast every day which was so good, we tried various options on the menu, none disappointed us. The team were happy to flex to our needs. The ingredients were high quality and portion sizes perfect. Sunday roast dinner was a lovely experience, again the quality was superb and delicious. The views from all areas of the house were stunning, we enjoyed relaxing in the three lounges on offer on many occasions, admiring the grounds and mountains in the distance. There was an issue with the water supply towards the end of our stay, this was outside of the hotel's control as it was a United Utilities issue, the team did reflect this inconvenience in a reduced bill for our final night which was appreciated. We look forward to our next visit, thanks for a wonderful stay x

Spent a lovely 4 nights here. Food is amazing and staff all very friendly and accommodating. We started out in the room Thirlmere but found it to be a bit too small for our liking. Luckily we were able to move to another room, Haweswater which was on the next floor and more spacious and had great views. The bathroom was slightly smaller and dated but was fine for our needs. (Walk in shower) The house and restaurant are beautifully decorated and the gardens are kept well too. The restaurant is set looking out onto the gardens and the Lake and so has wonderful views. We would definitely return if in this area again. We thought it was reasonably priced and took advantage of the 4 for 3 night offer.
