No lift, so climbed 3 levels of stairs back & forth the room. It’s a beautiful old property, but not sure of who helped them with interior design! The setting is lovely and we had a great dinner in the Bistro. Reception staff leaves a bit to be desired.

Our first visit to The Lakes this week and we could not have chosen a better hotel! Our excellent room was the size of a Demi-suite and the friendly staff attended to our every wish with considerable professionalism. Our greatest thanks, however, is reserved for the restaurant which delighted us with dinners of the highest quality. A true ‘hats off’ to the chefs who excelled at each sitting. The Storr Hotel will remain in our memory when many others will have been long forgotten.

We made the effort to drive up to the hotel based on the signage advising - Open to non-residents. After the long warm walk from the dusty gravel car park to the hotel. We asked at reception if we could have drinks on the patio. We were advised "We are not open to non-residents". No further comment or signposting to places nearby. End of conversation. On noticing the Lake to the left on the way out we took a few steps just to take in the view. We turned to walk back to the car to see one of the receptionist staff had come out of the hotel and was walking our way. She was obviously checking we weren't going to stop on the grounds, even briefly, ro look at the water. Before she got the opportunity to, we had already turned to return back to our car. So she walked past us - heading nowhere but pretending she was and looking ridiculous. My 80 year old mother couldn't believe it and commented "staff these days are obviously not trained in good manners". I don't usually leave reviews for hotels I've not actually dined in but I'll make the exception for here, as the experience left a bad taste in all our mouths. The staff here really do need to get with the times,as their website processes they have. We will never return and suggest others don't even bother turning up the drive.
