Best Western Dryfesdale

I have emailed to enquire about the room prices for our sisters wedding. The staff member rang the bride and told her I had rang. No confidentiality at all. We then had a email to say we aren’t welcome to book. What a lovely staff member!!

Booked this hotel for a 2 day stay for a wedding for my son, through Gretna Wedding Bureau. 3 weeks before the wedding the Manager, Glenn (or owner as he likes to be called) phoned my son and said as ours was the only booking, the hotel "would have no atmosphere" and we would be better at his sister Sure Hotel (also under the Best Western banner). When my son reviewed the Sure facilities, (3 star as opposed to 4 star for Dryfesdale) he decided that they weren't to the expected standard of the Dryfesdale (especially the Bridal Suite). When my son rang back to say this wasn't acceptable Glenn went into a complete spiral, now saying the Hotel was full of foreign visitors and became very confrontational and rude. My son ended up calling him extremely rude but was not abusive. The conversation ended abruptly. When my son's fiancee rang the wedding bureau, Glenn had already spoken to them and said, as my son had been swearing and abusive (he wasn't, I was there!), we were not welcome at either of his hotels! Looking at the reviews (search for Manager) we definitely dodged a bullet. We had a lovely stay at the Solway Lodge and reception at the amazing Smiths Hotel at Gretna. Glenn should be in a different line of work with no interaction with paying customers.

I stayed there overnight 28/29 July 2026. The owner displayed an appalling lack of awareness of customer service while he was serving at breaktast.
