Holiday Inn Express Exeter

Sounds awful but I was not expecting such great service as we got Nothing was too much trouble, check in was so pleasant and the gent behind reception was really helpful. They said if anything was an issue let them know and I think they genuinely meant it We asked cheekily for a late checkout in the morning at breakfast and it was no problem My pillow was a bit big and chunky for my personal taste but apart from that the stay was great and I would definitely stay there again if I was attending another event at Powderham!

We stayed here en route from Wales to Cornwall to give my Husband a break from driving and we needed a bed for the night. He chose Exeter as it was on the way and not too far from Cornwall. Easy check in, manned reception (a bonus) and we got 50% off parking. We had a double room on the second floor. I actually couldn’t find anything wrong with the room or the service checking in. The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. The bed was just the right comfy (hard but not too much) and the bathroom was exceptional for one night … nice shower, very clean and great for freshening up. We didn’t use the restaurant or bar but did have breakfast the next morning … plentiful as much as you need. Not impressed with the coffee in the machine (very bitter!) but I ended up making a cup of tea which was fine. Food was replenished regularly and the staff friendly and helpful. Worth the money we paid to stay here and would recommend

The room was really good. Spacious, comfortable bed, very clean and everything I could need for 1 night. The room was quiet even though facing a main road. Staff were lovely when checking in and getting a drink later in the evening. Only down sides - the air con was so noisy however it was too warm to not have it on. It was also really dusty. Secondly , the coffee at breakfast was terrible! I love a good coffee and am fussy, however it tasted very burnt and wasn’t drinkable. (Some people might like it! Who knows!) The bread rolls wrapped in cling film were also really dry. Appreciate it’s not overly expensive and I’d stay again as it was a comfortable night all in all.
