We have been visiting 'The Ilsington' for 24 years, which must say something about its overall quality. We find it to be ideally located for the moor, and well serviced by an efficient and friendly team.

It was lovely staying here, quiet, peaceful with a delightful garden. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa especially the steam cabin an added bonus to the sauna and pool. The hotel was also beautifully decorated throughout with old world charm, we shall stay here again!

There is something about this hotel that keeps drawing us back, and has done for 25 years now. There are so many things I love about it… the location with views onto Haytor; the delicious food, the comfortable rooms; the spa facilities. I don’t think it is any one of these, not even the friendly and familiar staff like Shiela, who always makes us feel welcome. It’s more the whole thing comes together in a special way, so that from the moment you arrive, you feel relaxed and safe,..nothing bad can happen here - a haven from the world. You relax! We used to drive there once or twice a year from Brighton for the hotel and the wilds of Dartmoor. Nowadays we drive from the Yorkshire Dales, just to visit the hotel. I hope we can continue to do so for many more years.
