Harrabeer Country House

Lovely guest house, we had the Amber room with a huge bathroom. The bed was comfy with fresh clean covers. The whole place including bedroom and bathroom was spotlessly clean. The hosts gave a really warm welcome, very chatty and gave great recommendations locally. Breakfast was massive, freshly cooked with local produce and incuded a selection of toast. There is a car park but its tight for larger cars. I would highly recommend a stay and will return on my future visits to the area

We had a lovely time at The Harrabeer Country House. Aidan and Linda were very welcoming and gave us a good recommendation for our evening meal (The Rock Inn at Yelverton). The beds were comfortable, the shower hot and powerful and the breakfast (ncluding homemade breads and muffins) delicious. What else could one want for an overnight stay?

Booked this B&B for a cycling trip around Dartmoor. The booking process was very easy, I called Linda to book and let her know we'd be cycling and would need somewhere to store our bikes in the evening. This wasn't considered a problem. We did call back to double check this was OK and also that we'd need somewhere to charge the e-bikes. Linda was lovely and explained they had a workshop outdoors and sure it wouldn't be a problem On checking in we were greeted by Aidan who told us to head round the back to store our bikes. This was an unlocked covered area. We enquired about charging the bikes and this is where the fun started. Aidan told us there was no power in the cycle storage area. He said, there was a workshop across the garden with power, this is where Aidan flipped and told us we were not to take our bikes across the garden, it was their private area and not available to guests. After some awkward exchanges he finally agreed we could wheel our bikes across the garden to the workshop. He huffed and disappeard inside. We took our bikes through to the workshop to charge them, I wasn't sure which outlet to use as there were other items plugged in so I knocked on the back door. Off he went again huffing and puffing saying this was the private part of the house blah blah blah, more awkward exchanges. I was actually being curteous not wanting to unplug something important. He calmed down and got off his high horse At this point I was seriously considering to simply leave, you couldn't get a ruder welcome and such a high level of inflexibility towards guests. If you cannot deal with people, don't run a guest house! It was late so I bit my tongue and cracked on - far from happy Other than that my room was a small twin room, smelt of damp, windows could not open. not happy at all staying in that room Breakfast was amazing, I couldn't ask for better, nice touch with home made sourdough and quality ingredients. Linda and Aidan greeted all the guests which was really nice. The house itself was very nice. One word of advice - Linda, have a word with Aidan about his behaviour - not acceptable towards guests
