Charlton Inn

Having visited the Charlton Inn for a number of years and always received a decent meal and good service we were so dissatisfied with our latest visit. We booked a table for 6 to 6.30 and were served drinks. After waiting 30 mins a member of staff came and asked if we needed more drinks. We enquired how long before our meal arrived and were then informed there was trouble with the burners in the kitchen but we would. be the next to be served. After waiting a further 25 mins we enquired how much longer we had to wait and were told another 10 mins. The pub was not busy and after waiting a further 10 mins decided to call it a day and left. We had been waiting over an hour and a half with no apologies. We will never go there again

Went here for food whilst visiting relatives in Dorset . Absolutely lovely -staff were so nice and friendly. Food excellent

Where do I start? See the photos! The room was called "Stour" and the smell of mould hit you as you open the door. The decor very old and tired. A loose bathroom panel lying on the floor leaving a gaping hole. Rusty metal fixtures and fittings. The shower enclosure including the shampoo bottles are full of mildew. Rolled down the blinds and the moths fell out, with the blind splattered in bugs like a car windscreen. Mattress old and collapsed in. Toilet not secured to the floor. Travelled in a group of friends and others had the bathroom bin not emptied from previous guests and rancid milk in room fridge. Lights outside the windows keep room lit all night. Just keep looking and book somewhere else.
