De Normandie

Just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel de Normandie. Was apprehensive before arrival as there had been negative reviews however we had a lovely stay. Check in was easy and staff were lovely and friendly. Our room was lovely and clean and spacious with up to date decor. Yes some of the passages were a bit dated but would rather have that and a better quality room. Bathroom was clean and shower was absolutely fine we had no issues with the temperature of the shower during our stay. The room also had a fan which was good as we did have good weather during our stay. Housekeeping went in every day and did a good job. Breakfast was lovely so many options! There really was something for everyone and the staff were so efficient we had breakfast every morning bar one and there was always plenty of food even if we went a bit later. Breakfast running until 10:30 is a bonus as well on the weekend. On previous reviews it complains about the fruit being tinned there was tinned fruit out however there was also plenty of fresh fruit available. The terrace was such a bonus as a place to either get a drink on a night time or somewhere to read your book on a morning. The location is really good right on the beach and right next to bus stops to take you in to town or it’s about a 15 minute walk into town. The only areas I think could be improved would be a fridge in the room and the mini bar in reception is very expensive better to just go to the bar. Our flight home wasn’t until late afternoon so we were able to leave our cases and the receptionist was able to book a taxi for us. Would definitely return!

Staff were friendly but this has to be the worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time. A throwback to the 80s. Net curtains (yes net curtains) with holes in. Unironed bedding. Bobbly bed sheet. Peeling paint. A rabbit warren of corridors to get to room. I'm not sure who is giving it positive reviews but obviously haven't stayed in decent hotels. Breakfast typical buffet but terrible coffee. You have to pay extra to get a latte etc. Relies on coach parties for its income.

I will never stay here again. As a frequent visitor to the island I stay in several hotels and thought I would try this one due to location. The shower is dreadful, no pressure at all. Decided to have some food after a busy day and was told its buffet only which would have been ok. However there was literally nothing left, 2 small pieces of chicken and the salad bar. £31 I was charged for it! I feel this should of been told to me when I went to the restaurant and should of been advised there wasn’t much food left at all will not be retuning
