The Grand Hotel

Atrocious hotel. A pig of a hotel they don't even bother to put lipstick on. Dirty, tired and just plain uck. Don't let nostalgia fool you nor the reviews from people who only use the restaurant or spa and don't actually stay here. Many things were broken ( incl phone, sink plug, shower mixer and extractor fan) or needing repair (holes in walls, peeling paint, burnt out bulbs). Window sills and outside walls by bedroom a pigeon feces infested hell hole. Bed decorative cover clearly unwashed in it's life time. Carpets likely uncleaned in a decade (hallway floors on room levels dirty and unvacuumed). Cruddy shower w/ dirty & mold and ancient fixtures - one wall mounted container that contains shampoo, conditioner and body wash in one! Mugs and glasses not replaced once used, clearly just rinsed in sink. No dead bolt on door. No way to contact front desk as phone non operational. Not that hot outside, but room was warm and cheap fan didn't help much. Cheap small wall mounted TV with only a few channels. Breakfast was appalling with a dirty space (food on floor just left there, tables rarely cleared off), communal food items picked over and things like sauces and jams in giant vat jars w/ no sense of hygiene. One coffee machine always broken, toaster burns everything, and food items heavily picked over and not replenished. Because the hotel has tried to make the lobby and lounge area cleaner, it is deceptive if you only come for tea or a drink.

Over priced. So run down in the decor. Grabby carpets. Noisey lifts. Staff seemed to interact with each other compared to guests. Uneven flooring in bedroom 307 so headboard slopes down. Balcony area Not clean & large amount of paint peeling.

Had a wonderful stay at The Grand Hotel! It’s got that gorgeous, classic seaside charm, but what really made our time special was the incredible hospitality. A massive shout-out to Felix and Lumi, who went above and beyond with their friendly interactions and top-tier service. They genuinely made us feel so welcome and looked after throughout our visit. Thank you both for adding an extra spark to the trip… I'll definitely be back!
